Biman Bangladesh Airlines earned a net profit of Tk 5.91 crore for the period ended June 30, 2008 since July 23, 2007, the day the national flag carrier was turned into a public limited company.

The first annual general meeting of Biman was held recently at its head office in Dhaka with the company’s chairman, Jamal Uddin Ahmed, in the chair, a news release said. In the 2006-07 fiscal year, immediately before conversion into a public limited company, the airline incurred a loss of Tk 272 crore, the release said adding that the profit of Tk 5.91 core in the maiden year as public limited company indicates a new beginning.
