Finance Minister AMA Muhit today asked the tax officials to stop corruption and harassment of taxpayers to bring a change in the culture of the department. “Corruption has to be come down and collectors will not harass any taxpayer,” Muhith told a function to award the leading taxpayers of the country.
National Board of Revenue (NBR) organised the programme at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre marking the 2nd National Income Tax Day. NBR chairman Nasir Uddin Ahmed presided over the function attended by economic adviser to the Prime Minister, Dr Mashiur Rahman. A total of 344 taxpayers across the country have been awarded in two categories – long time taxpayers and highest taxpayers for fiscal 2008-09.
