Local government minister Syed Ashraful Islam has been made chairperson of the Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP), a press release said.

Ashraf was given the responsibility on Monday for the next two years at the governing council meeting held as part of the five-day conference in Dhaka. While taking the job, Ashraf said CIRDAP will continue to development the local government system to address poverty, the statement added.
