The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) yesterday organised a colourful kite-flying competition at the Gulshan Youth Club ground to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the chamber, says a press release.
The programme began at around 2:30pm and continued until 5:30pm. The club compound wore a festive look with colourful balloons and kites of various sizes. Musical bands were playing popular tunes. Horse-carriage (tom-tom) added zing and zest to the programme.
Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) President Annisul Haq was present at the programme as the chief guest, while Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Turkish Ambassador to Bangladesh Ferit Ergin was present as the special guest.
Heads of diplomatic missions including ambassadors and high commissioners from Australia, Norway, Japan, Russia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Palestine, India, Thailand, Bhutan, Vietnam and Iran and senior officials representing missions from China, Korea, Singapore and Pakistan were present on the occasion.
Editors of some national dailies and weeklies and DCCI officials were also present.
A total of 40 participants from eight groups, mostly from old Dhaka, participated in the competition.
Later, DCCI President Hossain Khaled, Senior Vice President Salauddin Abdullah and Vice President Khondokar Shahidul Islam distributed prizes among the winners.
