EC asks AL, two other parties to further amend constitutions

The Election Commission on Thursday wrote to three political parties, including the ruling Awami League, asking for further amendments to their respective constitutions which, it said, had provisions in conflict with the Representation of the People Order. The two other political parties which have been asked to amend their constitutions in line with the RPO provisions are Liberal Democratic Party and Jatiya Party (JP-Manju).

The govenment shut down the test transmission of private Jamuna Television late on Thursday night. Police and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission officials went to the station's office at Pragati Sarani and forced a stop to the airing at 10:30pm for not having government clearance. They did not let any crew of the station in.

All the political parties have applauded the Supreme Court judgement on Bangabandhu murder case saying the historical verdict has established the rule of law in the country. They also demanded implementation of the verdict without further delay.

Execution process begins as judgement reaches jail
