BDR soldiers’ retirement age to be reduced to 45

The final draft of the plan for reconstituting the Bangladesh Rifles, after its soldiers revolted against their officers from the army in February, proposes to curtail retirement age for BDR personnel to 45 from 57 years of age for ‘revitalising the border force.’ The BDR director general, Major General Mainul Islam, on Wednesday placed the reconstitution plan at a meeting with home secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder in the chair at the secretariat.

Police launch probe into murder of 2 BDR soldiers

The police on Saturday launched investigations into the murder of two soldiers of the Bangladesh Rifles in custody in March and May. Earlier on Friday night, the police filed two murder cases with the New Market police station in connection with the deaths of the two BDR soldiers, lance nayek Mobarak Hossain and havilder Mahiuddin.
