Foreign Minister Dipu Moni today called upon journalists to be careful while asking foreign diplomats for comments on internal affairs of the country. The minister was speaking at the opening session of a training programme for the journalists on current affairs at Foreign Service Academy in the city.
The BNP’s secretary-general, Khandakar Delwar Hossain, on Monday blasted foreign minister Dipu Moni for saying that there was nothing to be worried about in spite of the mobilisation of troops by Myanmar and construction of barbed wire fence along Bangladesh’s border. ‘They have nothing to be worried and will not worry even if the country is occupied by foreigners. The role of the government is disquieting for the people who are concerned about the country’s security,’ he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday cautioned some of her cabinet colleagues and also party leaders to show restraints in their comments so that the image of the government does not suffer.
