Low-priced laptops weigh in

Low-priced laptops are set to capture the local market for desktop by 2010, according to organisers of the BCS ICT World 2008, the largest computer fair in Dhaka.

“The global market for the low-priced laptops widened by 60 percent last year, which also influenced the local market,” Mustafa Jabbar, president of the Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS), told a seminar.

Computer fair kicks off

With a view to using computer as a tool for culturing merit and knowledge, a nine-day computer fair began in Dhaka yesterday.

Around 400 computer shops of ECS Computer City at Multiplan Centre, New Elephant Road are participating in the fair titled “ECS City IT Fair-2008" organised by the Multiplan Centre Shop Owners Association, on its premises.
