Attorney General Mahbubey Alam received a letter threatening death yesterday afternoon a few hours after the announcement of the verdict in Bangabandhu murder case. He received the letter containing a piece of white cloth (alluding to a shroud) with a chit at his office around 3:30pm. In the chit, the writer threatened to kill Mahbubey Alam and other prosecution lawyers in the Bangabandhu murder case.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday demanded an inquiry into Sunday's incident of reported death threat at gunpoint to a senior army official posted on deputation at the Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) over a matter relating to promotion. She further demanded exemplary punishment to the perpetrators.

Professor M. Alauddin, vice- chancellor of the Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia, today received a death threat over his cell phone.
