Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has announced that her government will make education up to bachelor's degree free of cost. She said her government would raise funding for the education sector and appoint more teachers to government primary schools to improve the standard of education.
Telecommunications minister Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju said yesterday that the government planned to provide internet service to all schools, colleges, universities and most of government organisations free of cost to build a digital Bangladesh by 2021.
Government has decided to provide all students from class-1 to class-10 new books free of cost from the upcoming academic year 2010.
The education ministry has formed committees headed by deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers to monitor the printing and distribution of primary and secondary textbooks for the 2010 academic year.
The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, said on Saturday her government will take steps so that freedom fighters aged 65 years and above can travel on buses, rails and launches free of cost.
