Home Minister Sahara Khatun has ordered police to capture the killers of Rajshahi University student and Chhatra League worker Faruq Hossain within 24 hours. Three of the five death convicts of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman assassination case on Saturday sought clemency from the president, the IG prisons said. Lt Col (Artillery) Mohiuddin Ahmed, Maj Bazlul Huda and Maj (Lancer) AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed have submitted their mercy petitions to the jail authorities, Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen Ashraful Islam khan told reporters.
A Dhaka court on Sunday issued death warrants against five convicts in condemned cells in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman assassination case. Judge Md Abdul Gafur of the District and Sessions Judge's Court passed the order after he received the final verdict of the Supreme Court.
