Jubo Dal demands arrest of killers of their leader

Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, the youth front of opposition BNP, submitted a memorandum to the home ministry demanding arrest of the killers of Dhaka city ward commissioner Haji Ahmed Hossain. Hossain, also a Jubo Dal leader, was shot dead in Bangshal, Old Dhaka, on February 9.

Sahara asks police to arrest killers

Home Minister Sahara Khatun has ordered police to capture the killers of Rajshahi University student and Chhatra League worker Faruq Hossain within 24 hours. Faruq, a student of Mathematics (Hons) Final year, was killed and dozens others were injured during clashes between Chhatra League and Islami Chhatra Shibir supporters on Rajshahi University campus on Monday night.

Fugitive convicts' pleas 'may not be granted'

The law minister says chances are few that appeals of the six fugitive former army officers convicted of killing Sheikh Mujibur Rahman will be accepted in the court. According to the law, one has to specify valid reasons for each day of delay for filling an appeal.

3 killers seek presidential clemency

Three of the five death convicts of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman assassination case on Saturday sought clemency from the president, the IG prisons said. Lt Col (Artillery) Mohiuddin Ahmed, Maj Bazlul Huda and Maj (Lancer) AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed have submitted their mercy petitions to the jail authorities, Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen Ashraful Islam khan told reporters.
