Scrap Mannan Bhuiyan's plot allotment

A parliamentary body yesterday recommended cancelling the allotment of a Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha plot of land to former minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan saying the allotment was illegal. The parliamentary standing committee on housing and public works ministry also asked Rajuk to identify others who got allotment of plots unlawfully and cancel those.

'Scrap MRP project, introduce electronic passports'

A parliamentary body on Wednesday asked the government to cancel the project for issuing machine-readable passports (MRPs) and take steps for introduction of electronic passports to save crore of public money. Apart from passport issue, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Planning Ministry also made a set of recommendations including relocation of Kamlapur Railway station to Tongi to ease terrific traffic congestion in the capital city.

Scrap planned education policy: pro-BNP teachers

A pro-opposition teachers' platform on Tuesday asked the government to scrap a proposed education policy, saying it will affect Islamic values and cause job losses to around 350,000 teachers. The BNP-backed Shikkhok Karmachari Oikyo Jote at a news conference also vowed to prevent the new education policy from being implemented 'at any cost'.
