Hasina, Khaleda to vow to fight poverty together

A new chapter is going to be written Saturday in Bangladesh’s political history when two archrivals —the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, and the leader of the opposition in parliament, Khaleda Zia — would vow together unison from the same dais to fight poverty. Hasina, the ruling Awami League president, and Khaleda, the main opposition BNP chairperson, have agreed to attend the anti-poverty rally at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at 3:00pm on the day, transcending their usual bitter political animosities.
