Solar eclipse Jan 15

An annular solar eclipse will be visible from St Martin's Island and Cox's Bazar on January 15. Starting at 12:44:30.5pm BST and ending at 3pm BST the eclipse will last eight minutes and 29.6 seconds. Annular solar eclipses occur when a region on the earth's surface is in line with the umbra (the area on the earth or the moon which is the darkest during an eclipse), but the distances are such that the tip of the umbra does not reach the earth's surface.
