BNP leader Hannan Shah has demanded trial of Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council chairman Shantu Larma since his Shantibahini militia had fought against the country and committed crimes during the decades-long bush war. Shah, an advisor to opposition leader Khaleda Zia, said, "If the war criminals are to be tried, then Shantu Larma must be tried as well."
The Ministry of Law has sought Tk 10 crore from the government to hold war crime trial, minister Shafique Ahmed said today.

Martyred FFs' families say no to 'war criminal'
Family members of the martyrs of 1971 and freedom fighters in joined by common people formed a human chain at Mathbaria town yesterday protesting nomination by Awami League-led Grand Alliance to a "war criminal" for the upcoming parliament election.
The human chain stretched from Shahid Minar to the upazila parishad.
