An earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale may cause havoc in Dhaka destroying or damaging many high-rise buildings thus wiping out 32 per cent of the country's current ADP of Tk 16000 crore. If a powerful earthquake measuring 7 on the Richter scale hits capital Dhaka, it would result in the death of at least 1,31,000 people due to fragile and faulty structure of the residential buildings and commercial centres. Some 72,316 houses will be ruined completely out of 3,26,825 houses, according to experts.
