Political influence, pressure from private bus operators and shortage of buses have compelled Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) to limit its operation in the city and also in inter-district routes. As per the mandate of the organisation enacted in 1961, BRTC is authorised to operate its buses in any route without seeking any permission from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Road Transport Committees.

Dhaka wants inclusion of Nepal, Bhutan in transit with India: PM

The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, has said Bangladesh wants to include Nepal and Bhutan in establishing the transit with India. Biman banks on govt for Boeing

Bangladesh Biman seeks guarantee from the government to avail bank loans to make pre-delivery payments (PDP) of about $117 million for purchasing Boeing aircraft, officials concerned said. The government is yet to respond positively to the guarantee appeal though the first PDP instalment will have to be paid by the state-owned airline at end of October.

50 RMG workers injured as they clash with cops
