The ongoing session of the parliament has been extended till April 6, a private television channel reports. The Business Advisory Committee (Bac) of parliament decided this in its scheduled meeting on Monday to allocate more time for discussion on thanks-giving motion on the president's address in the House.

Speaker Abdul Hamid came down hard on both benches on Tuesday asking them not to use abusive words such as "killer" and "murderer" in parliament. "The way both sides have been using attacking words is really undesirable. The same point can be expressed in different ways," Hamid told parliament as opposition MP Moudud Ahmed complained of "attacking and abusive" words against late president Ziaur Rahman and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.

A new television channel is going to be set up exclusively for broadcasting proceedings of the parliament. The decision to set up "sangsad Bangladesh" was taken unanimously by the parliament on Thursday. MPs of both the ruling and the opposition parties agreed on the issue.
