The Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Workers and Employees’ Federal Union, affiliated to the Awami League’s associate body of labourers, Jatiya Sramik League, have called on the government to cancel the ordinance of the disinvestment of the Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board.

The ordinance turned the Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board into Bangladesh Telecommunica-tions Company Limited.

The union leaders at a meeting in the Ramna telephone office on Saturday put out the call.

Chaired by the union president, Mohammad Nurul Azad, the meeting was also attended by its central secretary general SMA Mukit Hiru.

The leaders called on the prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, and telecoms minister Raziuddin Ahmed Raju to take steps in this regard.
