Huawei demonstrates 3G technologies

The Huawei Technologies Company at a roadshow on Thursday demonstrated live the latest in third generation telecoms technologies to its customers in Dhaka.

The posts and telecommunications minister, Rajiuddin Ahmed Raju, inaugurated the roadshow at the Radisson Water Garden Hotel.

Huawei made the live demonstration from a specially-built truck, which earlier travelled many countries, including India and Vietnam, to display the 3G technologies supplied by Huawei to most of the leading operators of the world.

The roadshow displayed UMTS solutions, 3G services such as video call, video monitor, mobile television, MMS, WAP and advanced features such as high speed download packet access.

The minister said the launching of 3G services in Bangladesh would play a role in implementing the vision 2021 of the government. He said a process was under way to launch the latest 3G service in Bangladesh as the government has already allowed WiMax.

The Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) chief executive officer, Tony Zhang Hui, said, ‘This 3G roadshow is aimed at introducing the state of art technology for mobile broadband services and application in Bangladesh.’

‘The Bangladesh government has committed to drive the growth of ICT sector by aiming at the vision of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ by year 2021. The release spectrum of 3G/HSPA is one of major drive to realise the ambition of ‘Digital Bangladesh’,’ he said. ‘Huawei is ready to cooperate with the government and operators in Bangladesh to offer high-speed mobile broadband solutions to narrow the digital divide at the affordable pricing.’

Huawei began its operations in Bangladesh in 1998. Over the years, the company has grown to become one of the leading communications suppliers, providing comprehensive services to all the Bangladeshi telecoms operators.

Huawei is also involved with many corporate social responsibility projects in Bangladesh including donating network equipment to Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
