Warid Telecom signed an agreement with interconnection exchange (ICX) operator M&H Telecom for routing domestic inter-operator and international calls to and from Warid Telecom network. on June 9.
Warid Telecom CEO Mr. Muneer Farooqui and Managing Director of M&H Telecom Brig. Gen. (retd.) Mustafizur Rahman signed the agreement at a ceremony held at the Warid Telecom's Corporate Head Office at Banani.
General Manager (HR & Admin) of Warid Telecom Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, General Manager (Govt. & Operator Relations) Ashraful H. Chowdhury, Head of Engineering Department Saad Ahmed and Chief Operating & Technical Officer of M&H Telecom Mr. Arifur Rahman, General Manager (HR & Admin) Major (retd.) M Didarul Islam were present during the signing ceremony.
On the occasion, Mr. Farooqui said that Warid Telecom had signed this agreement with M&H Telecom in compliance with the International Long Distance Telecommunications Services (ILDTS) Policy-2007. The policy stipulates all the access network service operators must interconnect through the ICXs to route their domestic and international calls.
The CEO hoped that the deal would facilitate Warid subscribers to make and receive smooth and congestion-free calls to and from other operators.
The Bangladesh Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (BTRC) earlier granted two ICX licences to the private sector for routing voice calls of all operators. The ICXs serve as a domestic and international interconnection hub for ANS (Access Network Service) operator.
Warid Telecom, a subsidiary of UAE-based Abu Dhabi Group, launched its commercial operation in Bangladesh in May 10, 2007. The company deployed Next Generation Network (NGN) technology to all the 64 districts in the country.
