About 30 thousand land phone lines under Maghbazar exchange went out of order from 3.30pm yesterday due to technical fault, according to sources. Prime minister's Jamuna residence and cabinet members' houses on Minto Road apart from other houses were affected in the glitch.

"The repair work to restore the lines is on. We are expecting that the connections would be restored soon," a high official of the BTCL told The Independent yesterday. It is learnt that all the 30 thousand lines belong to the Alcatel exchange under the Maghbazar division. High officials of the BTCL were present in the exchange site to supervise the repair, work officials added.
