Automatic Vehicle Tracking System was introduced at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Headquarters yesterday with a view to reducing hijack of motor vehicles, especially private cars.
Though this system enforcers can keep vigil on vehicles equipped with compatible softened. It helps to pinpoint the exact location of such vehicle and to stop the movement of stolen vehicles by blocking the engines.

State minister for home affairs Advocate Shamsul Hoque Tuku inaugurated the system by pressing a key of a laptop computer at the inauguration ceremony of the system at a city hotel. Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, he said, "The government is pledge-bound to make a digital Bangladesh by 2021, and we need help of all to do so."
Terming the new system a step towards digital Bangladesh, he said that businessmen should come forward with such initiatives for technological and scientific advancement. Among others, Inspector General of Police Nur Mohammad, DMP Commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque and Abdul Matlub Ahmed, chairman of the Nitol Niloy Group spoke on the occasion.
Abdul Matlub Ahmed presided over the ceremony. IGP and DMP Commissioner hoped that car hijacking and lifting would decrease remarkably with the introduction of the system. Matlub said, "Ntrack (Automatic Vehicle Tracking System) system is designed for individuals, small contractors, fleets, travel operators, large companies, and government agencies for tracking cars, jeeps, buses with a view to checking hijacking of vehicles," he said.
