Police today asked the government to shut down 84 porn websites. Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media) Mohammad Nazrul Islam sent a letter to the home secretary in this regard seeking necessary steps through the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

"We have identified total 84 websites through investigation for a long time and the list of the websites has also been sent to the home secretary," the AIG-Media said. "The contents of these websites are basically on Bangladeshi girls and women. These sites are hosted and maintained from abroad," he added. In some of the sites, posted photographs of Bangladeshi girls and women, including the models and other celebrities, had been modified and edited through super-e-compose system to give those a vulgar look, Nazrul said.
