Provide Medical and surgical services for all patients admitted to MCH unit (Indoor patients, outdoor patients, Emergency wards etc.)Conduct regular treatment for outdoor patient on respective days and ensure proper outdoor patient care.Provide support and encouragement as well as help to create favorable atmosphere to ensure quality health service delivery.See all patients as soon as possible after admission. For serious cases, ensure immediate consultation / examination or even cross consultation as necessary and the same should be properly recorded at all time.During the stay of patients in the wards, exercise continuous personal attention to all seriously ill cases and be available for consultation as needed with respect to patients in their unit.Discharge patients from the hospital on written instructions from the head of the unit.It is the special responsibility of the head of the unit to ensure that the case sheets of the patients are maintained properly and in chronological order and true and faithful record kept of various events in connection with their treatment, referrals and progress in the hospital.The Head of the unit must explain to the relatives about the condition of the patients especially when they are seriously or dangerously ill.Ensure consultations with other colleagues in case of need. The consultant requested would similarly record his observations in the case sheet. Urgent consultations should be so mentioned and consultations arranged without delay.In case of surgical operations adequate operation notes regarding the surgical approach used, findings at the operation and operative procedure done, and orders for post – operative care should be written.The head of the unit will be responsible for the proper maintenance and up – keep of the ward in her area and also ensure submission of timely indents of the various articles required for the treatment of patients in the ward and OT. The head of the unit should lay down definite her has been thoroughly drilled in the techniques to be followed.Be involved in the teaching program of the hospital if required.Any other duty that may be specified from time to time.
